You and your family have decided to have your loved one's remains cremated, but now you'd like to know if it is a good idea to bury those remains. First, after the cremation is performed, your loved one's remains will require a cremation container. Once the container and the remains are cremated, you should look at getting an urn to hold the deceased relative's remains.
After you have this urn with the cremated ashes, there are many different things you can do with it to honor their life. But can you bury a cremation urn in a cemetery?
How to Bury Cremated Ashes
If you have decided to bury the remains, then no problem at all. Expect the burial site to be considerably smaller than a "natural" burial site, considering the size of the urn being used. The good thing about having a formal burial is the opportunity to give your loved one a final resting place and a headstone.
As opposed to housing the remains in your home, you get to have a respected place to visit in memoriam and honor the deceased's life.
Can Cremated Remains Be Buried With Another Person?
You can also bury the ashes with another loved one in the same site as an existing grave, given that the burial site may originally be the size of a natural burial site. This makes life a little easier logistically. There are special urns (or vaults) designed for burial, and these can be found with your funeral services provider.
