Is an urn vault required if I choose to bury my baby's remains?

Asked 2 years ago

My son passed away from a cold, and we want to have him cremated. I've been thinking of a suitable urn to get him, and I want a shiny metal one. I'm not sure if burying it without external protection is okay. Should I get an urn vault before I bury my baby's cremains?

I'm so sorry for your loss. An urn vault is required by certain cemetries, so it will depend on where you choose to bury your son's ashes. The purpose of an urn vault is to maintain the integrity of the cemetery grounds and prevent the soil from caving in onto the urn over time.
