Are handmade urns more expensive than store-bought urns?

My brother died recently from breathing complications, and the family agreed on a simple and low-cost burial. I suggested that we get him a handmade urn to commemorate his life, but I'm not sure if it's within our budget. Instead, a friend suggested getting a store-bought urn, and I'm wondering if they're too expensive.

I'm so sorry for your loss. The price point will depend entirely on where you get your urn from. Handmade urns could be more costly because a lot of time goes into making them. However, you could also DIY your own urn from a wooden box or keepsake vessel, paper mache, or clay.
