Can a matte stainless steel urn tarnish if left in a display case over time?

My father recently lost his companion dog due to old age. I want to get him a polished stainless steel urn for his living room. However, due to his advanced age, he may be unable to keep up with regularly buffing the urn. If a polished stainless steel urn is kept in a display case, will it tarnish over time?

Unfortunately, all polished metals will tarnish over time if they're not regularly polished and cared for. Displaying the stainless steel urn in a display case will definitely reduce the amount of dust it collects and prolong its integrity, but it will need some occasional TLC.
