Is polished stainless steel the best material for a corrosion-proof urn?
Asked 2 years ago
My grandfather died recently, and his final wish was to be cremated. I've been looking for a long-lasting urn material to hold his ashes. A metal urn was suggested by a friend. I live in a humid area near the sea and am concerned that the humidity will damage his display urn. Is polished stainless steel a better choice?

Polished stainless steel is an excellent choice, however, humidity can still cause the urn to rust. The simplest and most cost-effective way to protect it from humidity-based corrosion is to seal it from moisture. One way of doing this is to paint the urn, or choose an urn that is painted as it will prevent moisture from reaching the metal.
