My dad lost his companion dog recently due to old age. I want to get him a polished stainless steel urn to display in his living room. However, he might be unable to keep up with polishing the urn regularly because of his old age. Does a polished stainless steel urn maintain its finish for long?

That is such a lovely sentiment. I'm sure your dad will appreciate it! A polished metal urn may keep its shine for some time; however, it won't be for years and years. A regular polish will be needed to maintain the shine of the urn/
