Will engraved metal urn vaults deteriorate over time?

My father ordered a custom engraved metal urn vault to hold my mother's cremation urn. Will this material deteriorate over time?

This is dependent on what metal the vault is made from. Stainless steel is armed with built-in corrosion resistance but can deteriorate when exposed to damaging chemicals, saline, grease, moisture, or heat for a long time. Brass and bronze are good for outdoor application and can last for hundreds of years unless exposed to harmful chemicals.
