Am I able to choose the type of temporary cremation urn?

I’ve never had to go through the awful process of making funeral arrangements before, which is why I need some help. I know I can choose the urn I’d like to display my sister’s ashes in, but I don’t know how temporary urns work. Can I choose the temporary urn, or is it just given to me by the funeral home? Would it be a silly question to ask the funeral home if I can choose my own temporary urn for my sister's ashes? Thanks guys.
