Can I use plant-based materials to make an eco-friendly burial urn?
Asked 3 years ago
Hello, a close friend of mine has passed on and they were always very big on being eco-friendly and conscious of what we out into the ground. Since they're being cremated, I hope to be able to make them a burial urn that will go into the ground out of cotton and a woven basket. Do you think that this would be allowed in terms of burial regulations?

There should be no issue with this as there is no hard and fast rule about what biodegradable urns should be made from. Some other plant-based material biodegradable urn ideas include paper mache, coconut shells, compact peat, wool fiber, brown paper packets, tree bark, untreated wood, leaves, unfired clay, and bamboo.
