Is MDF easy and inexpensive to cut and shape into a burial urn?

Asked 4 years ago

Good morning dearies, my husband passed away and he was an avid wood carver. I'd love to compliment his character by getting him a burial urn made out of wood with an eagle carved into it. I could only find box-shaped burial urns, though. Would it be possible to get a rounded urn made with MDF wood?

MDF is inexpensive, durable, and a good choice for many woodworking and carpentry projects. However, it does not seem like it would be a suitable material for a rounded urn. Oak wood would be better suited for the round shape you are looking for. Oak wood is also good for engraving.
