Asked 4 years ago

What is a mausoleum, and is a crypt just another name for the same type of memorial?

A crypt refers to the vault that is generally located below a church or on the grounds of a memorial facility. The crypt is within a mausoleum and is used to house a casked. The mausoleum is a serene and stately building that houses one or more crypts.

A mausoleum is a large above-ground building that is generally serene and beautiful. A mausoleum has a vault that is located below ground and this vault contains crypts. The crypts are where the caskets are housed. A mausoleum is meant to protect the crypts.
