What is the difference between an urn and a keepsake?
Asked 4 years ago
So, I was looking online for an urn for my mom's ashes when I found something called a keepsake urn? How is this different from any other urn that you keep?

The main difference between a keepsake urn and a traditional urn is the size. Keepsake urns are a lot smaller because they are specifically designed to hold a small portion of the cremated remains. This is useful in situations where you want to keep some ashes and scatter them or if more than one family member would like ashes.

The primary difference between the two is the size. Standard traditional urns are large enough to hold all the ashes of one individual (200 to 250 cubic inches), while keepsake urns only hold between 1 to 6 cubic inches of ash. Keepsake urns for your mom's ashes could be a good way to split the ashes between family members.
