How much is a large urn for ashes?
Asked 3 years ago
Hi, we're going to need a large urn for someone in my family was obese and they passed away from an accidental insulin overdose the other day. The family proceeded to point out different roles for the funeral arrangement and I was appointed with having to make arrangements for cremation and an urn. I have no idea what size urn I should be getting, I think he was about 200lb? Thanks in advance!

The general capcity for a standard adult urn is between 200 and 250 cubic inches of ash. You do however get extra large adult urns that hold more cremains. The general rule is you need one cubic inch of urn space for even one pound of body weight. So for 200lb you would need at least 200 cubic inches but a larger urn is always recommended.
