Is it appropriate to order an extra-large urn for a person of larger stature?
Asked 3 years ago
My husband is a bodybuilder who wishes to have his ashes cremated when he dies. I've been looking into urn sizes, and he wants something sturdy. I'm concerned that a standard-sized urn won't hold all of his cremains after he's cremated. Is it sensible to purchase an extra-large urn to hold his cremains?

The best thing to do is to get an urn that's large enough for all the ashes. You don't want there to be any cremains that doesn't fit. The easiest way to calculate urn size is for every one pound of body weight, you need one cubic inch of space. So, if your husband weighs 200 pounds, you will need a 200lb urn.
