Can I create an inexpensive MDF burial urn that mimics real wood?

Hi, I'm looking to make a custom cremation urn to hold my grandad's ashes. I was looking at the cost of buying one made out of wood and I think it's rather expensive. I was wondering whether MDF would be a cheaper option and still look like real wood.

While MDF is a manmade wood and is much cheaper than real wood. MDF has excellent structural properties, but it doesn't have the natural and beautiful wood grain texture and look of natural wood. It can be easily stained and colored, but it's very difficult to replicate the grain and appearance of real wood.
